It's pretty. It's enchanting, it's pretty and it's inviting.

Q: “Hello there! Can you introduce yourself and your greenhouse?”

Hello, I'm MK. So this is my plot. My plot, Yumei. Please come in.

---

Q: “What does Yume mean?”

So Yume is a therapeutic space. It's zen inspired. So down here you will learn about plant crafting, making kokedamas, mini bonsai, fern mounting etc. So the key purpose is to have a human and plant interaction and you find your own solace, peace. I wanted to create a space that is calming, neutral and very peaceful and it's so safe for anyone who comes in. They can actually find their creativity and they can have the courage to try and have the interaction with the plants as I wanted them to.

---

Q: “So what are the tasks you do in your greenhouse?”

So I like to propagate plants from the mother plant and I make them into many babies as you can see. So I have many ways to interact with the mother plants with their babies. And with their babies, I can create multiple versions of them and every version is unique. Just like us as humans, we all have our uniqueness. So it's not restricted by what you buy. It's basically what you can create. They are friends.

It's just like you getting to know a new friend through life and death or even failures and success. And most of my plants, my journey with them, I killed a lot of them. But it's through that that I learned about what they want, they don't want because they can't speak the same language. And then from there, you can develop my relationship with them on a different level.

---

Q: “Wow..that’s deep. What motivates you to have such a huge passion for your plants?”

I once had this dark phase in my life where I was kind of losing hope of the purpose of living. Moving on through professional counselling and support, I was asked to go back to the primary passion which is gardening. Eventually when I discovered a CNN article, how they use horticulture therapy to help the war veteran to regain strength, courage and even transit them back to normal life. I was very inspired. I was so emotionally connected to it.

I started pursuing horticulture therapy.

---

Q: “That’s really moving. How did you come to discover City Sprouts?”

I came down to NParks festival day. That was the launch of this greenhouse. Then I was looking at it. The back of my head was saying, “you should get a space. You should get a space.”

I don't know what you want this space for but you should get this space for yourself at least. So I went forward as a retail form of therapy. I just rented the space. I want to enjoy every moment to start this whole space anew and the way I want it. I'll take my time.

---

Q: “What is your favourite plant from Yume Sanctuary?”

I only know heart shape from young. We draw the heart but I never knew it actually comes from a leaf. So when I first saw it, I was smiling all the way. It's like so much love that you are sending to me.

Therapeutic horticulture is also what talks about sensory. So visual is the one that will say, oh so pretty right.

---

Q: “If you pick 1 plant, what plant would you be?”

Basically I'll be moss. I can cushion the plants and it's actually an important element to support plant growth. It's pretty. I want to spread my uniqueness everywhere I can go.
