Q: “Hello! Can you introduce yourself and your garden?”

Hi, I'm Nadia and welcome to my plot! This is A6 at City Sprout West Coast and welcome to Laughing Leaves.

---

Q: “Nice to meet you Nadia! Could you bring us around your plot?”

We have lots of herbs, vegetables and fruits and all kinds of plants. I started off with a home-based business by baking and my pandan leaves have been with me for as long as I can remember. This is actually my hubby's baby. This is hydroponic and he's been wanting to do this and I think he's quite happy with the outcome and the leaves are growing very well.

Here are all the herbs. We are the only people who have this here in this farm because these are very unique plants. This is a Serai Kayu. It is Indonesian bay leaf and it has a scent of lemongrass. This has a lot of medical benefits. We can come here every day and relax and feel that we are in kampung.

---

Q: “Wow these are pretty unique plants! I saw that you have two big barrels at the back. Are these significant in your garden?”

This is our rainwater harvesting area where we collect all the water for our plants and we even do it for cleaning. Every time it rains, we will just rush here and open up the lid and get this water coming down, rushing down. The plants just love it.They grow very well and green.

---

Q: “So how did you find out about City Sprouts and what do you like about this space?”

There was one time when we took a stroll around here and we found that this space is so interesting. When it rains, you really feel like the kampung vibes, like the water dripping.

We made friends with a few farmers here and they are so friendly, the community here. We decided to take up this place somewhere at the end of July. After that, we start to plant a small amount of vegetables.

The more interesting thing is the visitors that pass by and every time when they pass by, they would just hop up and want to know about this plant and that plant. Some of them share their knowledge with us. Whatever plants that they know, they give us tips and tricks and we learn from them too.

---

Q: “What motivates you to start or continue gardening?”

I wanted to learn more about herbs and what we can do with them (the herbs). I mean, this is our natural way of healing. Mental health is everywhere and the last thing we want is the people that we love break down or go into depression and we don't know about it.

I would love that people would just chill and relax and have a good time.

He's (Nadia’s husband, Encik Feroz) been helping out a lot with all the carpentry stuff and the planters, everything. He even do up this space for us to rest and relax because we want to sit down and have a cup of coffee or tea in the afternoon, looking at our plants at the same time. It's something that we welcome people to do also.

---

Q: “Any famous last words?”

Come, come and let's have a coffee here and chitchat!
