Step into the world of game creation in Board Game Design Lab!

In this hands-on 1-day workshop, children learn how tabletop games are designed from the ground up. From understanding game mechanics to building their own playable prototypes, participants experience the full journey of a game designer.

Through analysing existing games, rapid prototyping, and peer testing, children discover what makes a game fun, fair, and engaging.

What Your Child Will Experience

🎮 Game Mechanics & Design Thinking
Children break down how games work by analysing existing titles, learning the building blocks of game design.

💡 Create or Modify a Game
Participants can modify an existing game or design their own from scratch using the mechanics they’ve learned.

✂️ Rapid Prototyping
Using simple materials, children quickly build their first playable version and test if their ideas work.

🧪 Play-Testing & Feedback
Through peer testing, participants identify flaws, refine rules, and discover what makes their game enjoyable.

🛠 Production & Fabrication
Final designs are brought to life using tools like laser cutters or Cricut machines, turning ideas into physical game components.

🎤 Final Showcase & Game Café
Participants present and play each other’s completed games, receiving feedback from peers, parents, and facilitators.

Meet Your Facilitators

CAMP FACILITATOR

Jasmine Quek

Jasmine is a multi-disciplinary designer and maker who is passionate about challenging perceptions of everyday objects and materials. Her work was featured in "Visions of the Future," an exhibition by DesignSingapore in 2021. During her three-year tenure at a local design studio, Hans Tan Studio, Jasmine developed a deeper interest in graphic design while working on graphical pattern designs. 

CAMP FACILITATOR

Kai Yi

Kai Yi is an introspective designer and facilitator with a broad range of interests — from 3D printing to hands-on making. With a background in industrial design, he’s passionate about helping young creators discover how empathy and curiosity can inspire meaningful ideas. At VIVITA, he guides children through the design thinking process — encouraging them to understand problems deeply and turn their ideas into tangible solutions.

CAMP FACILITATOR

Khor Tuck Khan

Khor is an experienced creative director with over two decades in advertising and visual communications. Beyond his professional work, Khor has dedicated himself to environmental art and community outreach. Since 2006, he has led recycled art projects for persons with special needs and participated in festivals like iLight Singapore and the Lyon Light Festival, reflecting a commitment to creativity, sustainability, and impact.

  • Refund Policy

    A minimum number of participants is required for the programme to begin. A full refund will be refunded in the form of credits should the minimum number is not met. There will be no refund for cancellation two weeks prior to the date of the programme.
