Turn discarded materials into a real product in Makerpreneur Lab!

In this hands-on 2-day camp, children step into the roles of young makers and entrepreneurs as they transform used plastic bags into a durable new material. Turn creative ideas into real products

Looking for a school-holiday experience that is fun, hands-on and genuinely useful? At Makerpreneur Lab, children do more than follow instructions or make something from a kit. They experiment with materials, solve problems, develop their own ideas and bring a product to life, all while discovering what they are capable of.

Over two days, young makers transform discarded plastic bags into a durable material and use it to design and create a useful product of their own.

// How it works

From waste material to a product they pitch

Children step into the roles of young makers and founders. They start with a real everyday need and finish by presenting their own product to parents.

  1. 01

    Make

    Heat-fuse used plastic bags into a durable new material, spot an everyday need, then sketch, sew and build a useful bag attachment.

  2. 02

    Brand

    Test the prototype, improve what doesn't work, then give it a name, logo and tagline, and work out its cost and price.

  3. 03

    Pitch

    At the final showcase, young founders present the problem they solved, their material story, brand and price.

// Skills unlocked

What your child will learn

  • Hands-on making

    Experiment with recycled plastics, learn practical sewing and construction techniques, and explore different ways to build a product.

  • Creative problem-solving

    Identify everyday needs, develop ideas, build prototypes, test them and make improvements.

  • Design and branding

    Create a product name, logo and tagline that give their creation its own identity.

  • Real-world thinking

    Explore basic costing and pricing, and consider what makes a product useful and appealing to others.

  • Communication and confidence

    Present their creation and share the thinking behind their design at the final showcase.

The real lesson Creativity isn't about getting everything right the first time. It's about being curious, trying things out, learning from what doesn't work and finding new ways forward.

What parents say

★★★★★

You could tell something had really sparked for him.

My son attended the 2-day Makerpreneur Lab workshop with VIVITA, and we were very impressed. She guided the kids through the full journey of turning an idea into a product: identifying a real need, designing with recycled plastic, prototyping, and even branding and pitching. It went beyond just making something, it got the children thinking creatively and solving real problems. What touched us most was seeing our son come home and keep talking about it excitedly with the family.
